Jimmy Baseball raising an eyebrow….

Welcome back to CubbieFever’08, this is Fro and today I am going to discuss the acquisition of Jim Edmonds to the Chicago Cubs outfield.  Now let me be honest at first I was awfully upset about the Cubs, who I thought were trying to make a World Series run, picking up an aging, strikeout susceptible, hated Cardinal player.  I remember myself thinking What are they doing?  The Padres don’t even want him and they don’t have an outfield remotely close to comparsion of the Cubs why would we waste our roster spot.  But once again Jim Hendry has proven to me why he is the GM of the Cubs and I am not.  Since coming to the Cubs Jim has put on quite a show and actually won over the Bleacher Bums in Center field.  You should of heard them the first couple games, I actually felt sorry for him at the game I was at.  Jimmy Baseball has put together an outstanding .305 BA, .622 SLG, .376 OBP, 6 HR, and 21 RBI’s, while only piling up 14 K’s in 28 games since joining the Cubs.  He is now exactly were he was at in G and AB when San Diego dumped him and he was only batting a .178 BA with 1 HR and 6 RBI’s in his first 26 games..  Quite the turn-around. He has played an above average Center Field for us and the bat is definitely heating up.  So now I can admit to you that I am eating my words of what I said about Jim when I first heard about the signing, and yes I was wrong!!!   To Jim Hendry keep up with the good work and let’s go get us another pitcher at the trade deadline!! This is Fro, and Go Cubs Go!

Okay Fever, I think we felt the same way too down I-55. How could he be in a Cubs uni??

Thanks for posting the numbers, I didn’t think they were that good yet but I knew when he hit those two dingers in one inning that he was heating up.

Looking forward to how things go this weekend. He’ll probably get quite a standing ovation now at Busch. Good luck on the pennant chase!
